It is reported that the education departments in districts such as Yuexiu, Liwan, Haizhu, Huangpu, Baiyun and Panyu have already issued the related notice to the schools in their jurisdictions.
According to the National Health Commission’s guidelines on wearing masks, personnel at primary and secondary schools need to carry disposable medical masks or surgical masks.
For students and teachers, they don’t need to wear masks at school; for other staff at school, they need to wear disposable medical masks or surgical masks.
Starting from this week, mostly from Friday, students can take off their masks after coming back to the classroom, and need to wear the mask when leaving school.
Earlier this month, the National Health Commission and Ministry of Education have jointly released a notice, focusing on control and prevention of COVID-19 at kindergartens, elementary, junior and senior high schools.
According to the notice, students in areas with low risks of infection of the novel coronavirus are not required to wear masks at school as many local governments are stepping up efforts to reopen classrooms.
Meanwhile, schools still need to continue measures for prevention and control to ensure safety. Mass gatherings should be strictly controlled and any on-site meeting must have prior approval of the local education authorities, the notice said.
